This 2-day / 1-night adventure is the perfect way to experience the stunning beauty of the Peruvian Andes, combining breathtaking landscapes, cultural encounters, and the world-famous Rainbow Mountain (Vinincunca). The trek takes you through remote trails, high-altitude passes, and colorful valleys, offering a unique opportunity to enjoy the natural wonders of Cusco away from the crowds.
On this journey, you will witness majestic snow-capped peaks, crystalline lagoons, and herds of llamas and alpacas along the way. You will also have the chance to interact with local Andean communities who maintain their ancestral traditions. The highlight of the tour is reaching the spectacular Vinincunca, known as the Rainbow Mountain, with its vibrant mineral-colored slopes that have made it one of Peru’s most iconic destinations.
The experience is complemented with a night of camping under the starry Andean sky, delicious meals prepared by our trekking team, and the guidance of professional staff to ensure both safety and comfort. Itinerary
Día
- You will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30 a.m. At this time, personal tents and sleeping pads will be provided. We will then depart for the place known as Alqatarwi, where you will enjoy a delicious breakfast at 7:00 a.m. After breakfast, we will begin an unforgettable 6-hour hike to the Puka Puka viewpoint, from where you will be able to admire the entire Ausangate snow-capped mountain and the Puka Qocha lagoon.
- We will continue our hike until we reach our Ananta campsite, where lunch will be served. Finally, we will spend the night at this location.
Día
- We will wake up very early and enjoy breakfast at 4:00 a.m. After breakfast, we will begin our hike towards the famous site known as Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain – Red Valley).
- After completing our trek, we will have a well-deserved lunch at the place called K’ayrawiri. Following lunch, we will return to the city of Cusco.

What to bring

- Wear comfortable trekking shoes, preferably waterproof.
- Carry warm clothing (jackets, gloves, hats) as temperatures can drop significantly, especially at night.
- Do not forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from the strong sun.
- Be in good physical condition since the tour involves high altitude and long hikes.
- Drink coca tea or take altitude sickness tablets before and during the trek.
- Bring a rain poncho or waterproof jacket as the weather can change quickly.
- Carry a flashlight or headlamp for use at the campsite.
- Always have water and energy snacks on hand during the hike.
- Follow your guide’s instructions at all times for safety.
