Itinerary
Día
- We will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning to begin our journey out of Cusco. On the way, we will stop to visit the Chullpas of Ninamarca, funerary towers located at 3,700 m (12,139 ft).
- Then, we will arrive at Paucartambo, a small town that preserves a colonial-era bridge. From this point, we will ascend to Acjanaco, at an altitude of 4,000 m (13,123 ft).
- Here is the entrance to Manu National Park, from where we begin descending into what is known as the cloud forest, a place where we will start to observe a great diversity of flora and fauna. We will take a short walk here to see if we can spot some birds, such as the cock-of-the-rock and the quetzal.
- In the afternoon, we will arrive at Pilcopata, where we will be welcomed at our lodge to shower and rest. Later, we will have dinner and get ready to sleep for the next day’s adventure.
Día
- We will wake up early for breakfast and then take a bus ride to a place called Atalaya. Here, we will switch transportation and board a boat to navigate for about 30 minutes to Paititi Lodge, where we will spend our second night.
- During the boat ride, aside from the stunning Amazonian jungle landscape, we will be able to see a wide variety of animals living along the riverbanks.
- After settling in, we will have lunch, and in the afternoon, we will visit Cocha Machuhuasi, a lagoon where we will take a ride on a rustic raft to observe a great variety of birds and monkeys, among others.
- At night, there is the option to take a night trek to experience and feel the unique sounds of the jungle after dark.
Día
- On this last day, we will wake up very early for a 45-minute boat ride to the parrot clay lick, located about 300 meters away.
- A clay lick is a wall of mineral-rich clay that these birds use to obtain nutrients not found in their daily diet. Here, up to four species of green parrots can be seen gathering by the hundreds.
- After admiring this natural wonder and taking some photos, we will return to the lodge for breakfast and then begin our journey back by boat.
- At Atalaya, we will switch to our land transport to continue the trip, passing once again through the cloud forest until we reach the city of Cusco, where our tour comes to an end.
