Itinerary
Día
- We depart from Cusco in our private bus, crossing the mountains to reach the typical folkloric town of Paucartambo. Here, we will take a short walk through the town before continuing to Ajanacu, the entrance to the cultural zone of Manu Park.
- From there, we will continue enjoying the highlands, the dwarf forest, and the cloud forest, where we will hike for several hours to observe a complex courtship behavior, witnessing impressive lek displays of the Cock-of-the-rock, Peru’s national bird (Rupicola peruviana), as well as quetzals, monkeys, and orchids.
- We will then arrive at our private rainforest lodge, where we will spend the night.
Día
- After breakfast, we continue in our private bus to the port of Atalaya. Along the way, we stop to observe a coca plantation and a viewpoint offering spectacular views of the jungle and river.
- From Atalaya, we depart by motorboat along the Upper Madre de Dios River to Aguas Calientes, where you can bathe in the natural hot springs.
- During the boat ride, we will see many different types of animals, especially birds, along with beautiful scenery.

In the afternoon, we arrive at the Bonanza Ecological Reserve. From here, we hike for about an hour to reach a camouflaged hide, where you will experience the amazing nocturnal behavior of wildlife, including tapirs, deer, monkeys, and many small rodents at the clay lick, consuming mineral-rich mud during the night.

- Today we explore the jungle on our extensive trail system, carrying a small backpack that includes snacks.
- Along the way, we will see many different types of animals such as monkeys, peccaries, and birds like eagles, parrots, and toucans, as well as medicinal plants and giant trees.
- Later in the afternoon, we will enjoy the beautiful Observation Tower among the treetops, which gives you the opportunity to see macaws, toucans, and tanagers.
- At dusk, we will search for tarantulas, spiders, tree frogs, and snakes along the streams. We will spend the night at our comfortable lodge.
Día
- We will wake up very early to return by boat to Atalaya, where our private bus will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.
- We will arrive in Cusco in the afternoon.
Día
- Return by boat from the lodge to Atalaya, passing through Pilcopata and once again visiting the mysterious cloud forest on the way back to the Imperial City of Cusco. We will visit the cloud forest again.
- Approximate arrival between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m.

What to bring
- Wear lightweight, quick-dry clothing and long sleeves to protect against insects and sun exposure.
