This impressive Inca archaeological complex, whose name means “Horn-shaped Fortress,” is located atop a canyon surrounded by breathtaking mountain landscapes. Waqrapukara stands out for its terraced architecture, ceremonial enclosures, and perfectly fitted stone walls, framed by unique rock formations.

Itinerary

Día

1
Waqrapukara
  • 04:00 hrs – Hotel pickup in Cusco.
    04:30 hrs – Departure towards the south of Cusco. The drive takes approximately 3 hours in private transport, passing through rural landscapes and small Andean villages.
    07:30 hrs – Breakfast en route.
    08:00 hrs – Start of the hike. From the starting point (Punta Carretera or Campi), we begin a moderate hike of approximately 2 to 3 hours, enjoying views of the Apurímac Canyon, rock formations, and the region’s typical wildlife.
    10:30 hrs – Arrival at Waqrapukara. Guided exploration of the archaeological site: Inca enclosures, agricultural terraces, ceremonial areas, and natural viewpoints. Free time to rest and take photos.
    12:00 hrs – Box lunch in front of Waqrapukara.
    13:00 hrs – Return via the same trail. Hike back to the transport.
    15:30 hrs – Departure back to Cusco.
    18:30 hrs – Arrival in Cusco and transfer to the hotel.
