Description

Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire, proudly holds the title of the Archaeological Capital of the Americas, as there is no other place on the continent where the monumental remains of a great culture are so easily accessible and still so well preserved. Yet, Cusco is also a museum city, where the contrasts between the native and the Western, the historical and the modern, endow it with a mystical beauty.

Cusco can be divided into three main destinations: the City of Cusco, with its ruins, temples, churches, mansions, and archaeological complexes; Machu Picchu, the “Lost City of the Incas,” considered one of the world’s greatest archaeological treasures; and the Sacred Valley of the Incas, with its pleasant climate, fertile land, plains, and breathtaking views. The valley is home to picturesque towns, impressive terraces, and important archaeological complexes, such as:

  • Yucay, where Inca terraces behind the village remain intact.
  • Pisac, the largest Inca archaeological complex.
  • Ollantaytambo, a strategic military, religious, and agricultural center during the Inca Empire.
  • Maras, salt mines that have supplied mineral salt to Cusco since pre-Inca times.
  • Moray, circular terraces resembling giant fingerprints, used by the Incas to adapt crops to new climates, a striking example of their advanced agricultural knowledge.

The mild climate and unique geography of the Sacred Valley make it an ideal destination for outdoor activities such as rafting, mountain biking, mountaineering, hiking, and more.

This program is a perfect synthesis of the Cusco region, where in just 8 days you will experience the three main attractions of this magical destination.
