Your adventure begins with an early morning transfer from your hotel in Cusco to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Enjoy a scenic train ride along the Urubamba River until you reach Km 104, the official starting point of the Short Inca Trail. After meeting your guide and passing the checkpoint, you will visit the Chachabamba archaeological site, once used as a ceremonial and agricultural hub.

From here, begin a gradual ascent through lush cloud forest, where orchids bloom and hummingbirds dart between the trees. After approximately 3 hours of hiking, arrive at Wiñay Wayna, an awe-inspiring complex of agricultural terraces, ritual baths, and temples that clings to the mountainside. Your guide will explain the significance of the site while you enjoy panoramic views of the valley below.

Continue along a well-preserved stone path toward the Sun Gate (Inti Punku). As you pass through the gate, the grandeur of Machu Picchu will unfold before you, bathed in the afternoon light. After soaking in the view, descend to the citadel for a first glimpse of its majestic structures.
