Over four days, you will trace the very steps of the Inca messengers, crossing high mountain passes, descending into subtropical valleys, and exploring hidden ruins accessible only on foot. Itinerary
Día
Your adventure begins early in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco, followed by a scenic two-hour drive through the Sacred Valley to the charming town of Ollantaytambo, where you will enjoy breakfast and a chance to purchase last-minute supplies. From here, continue to Km 82, the official starting point of the Inca Trail, where you will meet your trekking team. After a short introduction and permit check, the trek begins along the banks of the Urubamba River, with panoramic views of snow-capped Veronica Mountain.
The trail gradually ascends through farmland and small villages before reaching the archaeological site of Patallacta, an impressive settlement of terraces and houses that once served as an agricultural and administrative hub. Along the way, you may spot native flora such as orchids and bromeliads, and if lucky, Andean birds like the torrent duck.
After a picnic lunch in the open air, continue hiking to Wayllabamba, the first campsite, located in a lush valley surrounded by mountains. Enjoy a hearty dinner prepared by your chef and rest under a blanket of stars.
Meals included: Lunch, Dinner
Approximate walking distance: 12 km (7.5 miles) – 6 hours
Día
Wake up to the sound of birds and enjoy a nutritious breakfast to prepare for the most challenging day of the trek. The morning begins with a steady climb through dense Polylepis forests, passing through Llulluchapampa, a scenic meadow where you can catch your breath before the final ascent.
The highlight — and challenge — of the day is reaching Warmiwañusca Pass (Dead Woman’s Pass) at 4,215 m (13,828 ft), the highest point of the Inca Trail. Here, the air is crisp, the views are immense, and the sense of accomplishment is unforgettable. After a well-deserved rest and photographs, begin the descent into the Pacaymayo Valley, where you will find your campsite for the night.
Dinner is served in a peaceful setting, surrounded by towering mountains and the sound of a nearby stream — the perfect place to relax after a demanding yet rewarding day.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Approximate walking distance: 11 km (6.8 miles) – 7 hours
Día
This day offers the richest archaeological and scenic experiences of the entire trek. Begin with a climb to the semi-circular Inca ruin of Runkurakay, thought to have served as a watchtower and resting place for messengers. Continue to the Second Pass (3,950 m / 12,959 ft), offering spectacular views of surrounding peaks and valleys.
Descend to the atmospheric fortress of Sayacmarca, perched dramatically on a cliffside. After exploring, continue along a beautifully preserved stone path to Phuyupatamarca — “The Town Above the Clouds” — where mist often rolls in, creating a mystical atmosphere. Here, you can explore ceremonial baths and intricate stonework before beginning a long descent into the cloud forest.
The trail winds through lush vegetation filled with hummingbirds and exotic flowers before arriving at Wiñay Wayna, the last campsite. Before dinner, visit the nearby archaeological site with its stunning terraces and temple, perfectly preserved and less crowded than Machu Picchu itself.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Approximate walking distance: 16 km (10 miles) – 8 hours

The moment you see the site emerge from the morning mist is one of pure magic.
After taking in the panoramic view, descend into Machu Picchu for a two-hour guided tour, exploring its temples, plazas, terraces, and other fascinating structures. Learn about the history, engineering, and mysteries of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the afternoon, take the bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included), then board the train to Ollantaytambo, where a private transfer will return you to Cusco, arriving in the evening.
