Itinerary
Día
Start: 04:00 hrs – Hotel pickup.
- 04:00 hrs: Departure from Cusco heading south through the Sacred Valley on a 2-hour drive to the town of Cusipata, enjoying scenic Andean landscapes and traditional villages along the way.
- 06:30 hrs: Breakfast at a local restaurant in Cusipata.
- 07:00 hrs: Continue by transport to the community of Phulawasipata (4,600 m / 15,092 ft), the starting point of the trek.
- 07:30 hrs: Begin the hike to Rainbow Mountain. The trail is moderately to highly challenging due to the altitude and terrain. The hike takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Along the way, you’ll see llamas, alpacas, and panoramic views of the Ausangate Glacier.
- 09:00 hrs: Arrival at Rainbow Mountain. Free time to rest, take photos, and enjoy the view from natural lookouts. Your guide will give you a brief explanation about the mountain’s geological formation and its cultural significance.
- 10:00 hrs: Start the descent back to Phulawasipata along the same trail.
- 11:30 hrs: Return by transport to Cusipata.
- 12:30 hrs: Buffet lunch at a local restaurant.
- 13:30 hrs: Return journey to the city of Cusco.
- 16:30 hrs: Arrival in Cusco and drop-off at your hotel.
