Mountain of Colors Palcoyo and Bridge Inca Q’eswachaka

From US$300 per person

Description

Discover two hidden gems of the Andes in a single day: the colorful Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain and the legendary Inca bridge of Q’eswachaka. This unique journey combines natural wonders and living history, offering an authentic glimpse into the beauty and culture of the Peruvian highlands.

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive through picturesque valleys and traditional Andean villages, leading to the Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain. Unlike Vinicunca, Palcoyo offers a gentler hike and three strikingly colorful mountains, making it accessible yet equally breathtaking. Surrounded by surreal landscapes and stone forests, this destination is a photographer’s dream.

The experience continues with a visit to the Inca bridge of Q’eswachaka, the last surviving suspension bridge made entirely of braided grass. Rebuilt annually by local communities using ancestral techniques, it stands as a remarkable example of living Inca heritage and engineering. Crossing it offers a rare connection to the traditions that have been preserved for centuries.

This full-day excursion is perfect for travelers looking to combine stunning natural scenery with cultural immersion, all in one unforgettable journey through the heart of the Andes.

Mountain of Colors Palcoyo and Bridge Inca Q'eswachaka
  • The Palcoyo and Q’eswachaka tour begins around 5:00 a.m. with pick-up in private transport from your hotel or a central location.
  • After a drive of approximately 3.5 hours, during which we will see numerous alpacas and native communities living around these mountains, we will arrive at our destination. From here, you can already appreciate the colorful mountains and the entire Palcoyo Valley.
  • Those who wish to fully enjoy the view of this tourist attraction will take a short hike of about 30 minutes to reach the “viewpoint,” from where the panoramas are truly incredible. The view is worth the effort! You will be able to see at least 3 mountains in addition to the colorful valley surrounding the famous Ausangate glacier.
  • After a couple of hours, we begin the descent (around 45 minutes), heading toward Chuquicahuana for a delicious lunch.
  • After lunch, we will drive for about an hour and a half to the Inca bridge of Q’eswachaka.
  • Thanks to the tradition and the strong will of the thousand people who participate in the annual reconstruction of the bridge, we can step away from history books and enjoy an interactive experience of Inca culture. Come and witness Inca engineering in the 21st century as you walk across the Q’eswachaka Bridge.
  • Afterwards, we will drive approximately 3.5 hours back to Cusco, arriving around 6:30 p.m.
