If you are looking for a unique adventure away from the crowded routes, the Pallay Punchu trek is the perfect choice. Known as the “Sharp Mountain of Colors,” Pallay Punchu is one of Cusco’s newest natural attractions, located at more than 4,700 meters above sea level. Its sharp ridges painted in vivid shades of red, brown, and green resemble a traditional Andean poncho, making it a truly breathtaking sight.
During this two-day and one-night journey, you will walk through untouched highland landscapes, pass by crystal-blue lakes, and enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped Andes. Along the way, you will connect with local traditions and witness the daily life of the Andean people who preserve their ancestral culture.
On the first day, the trek begins with an ascent through scenic valleys, where you will set up camp and enjoy a warm dinner beneath the starry Andean sky. The second day takes you to the spectacular viewpoint of Pallay Punchu of Apu Taqllo, where the colorful mountain reveals its sharp formations in full splendor. After soaking in the views and capturing incredible photographs, you will descend and return to Cusco with memories of an unforgettable Andean adventure.

Itinerary
Día
- The adventure begins with an early pick-up from your hotel in Cusco at 5:30 a.m. We will travel towards the towns of Sicuani and Langui, where upon arrival you will enjoy a delicious breakfast. After breakfast, we will continue our journey to Layo, where our guide will share the fascinating and mysterious stories of the area, including the Langui–Layo Lagoon.
- Following our guide’s explanation, we will start a 3-hour hike towards the Pallay Punchu campsite. Upon arrival, you will be served a well-deserved lunch. Afterward, we will have free time to explore this spectacular place and capture stunning photographs of the entire mountain range.
- In the evening, we will enjoy dinner and spend the night camping under the impressive Andean sky.
Día
- Today will be a spectacular day to fully enjoy the beauty of this unique destination. After breakfast at 7:00 a.m., we will hike up to the Pallay Punchu Mountain, where our guide will provide a complete explanation of this breathtaking natural wonder.
- Afterward, we will descend to Ocobamba, where a delicious lunch will be served. Following this, we will relax in the thermal baths or, alternatively, visit the district of San Pablo to observe the fascinating “Eagle Eyes” volcano.
- On our return to Cusco, we will make a stop to explore the archaeological site of Raqchi, an important Inca complex. By the end of the day, we will head back to the city of Cusco and transfer you to your hotel.
